Trauma

Angry outbursts, feeling irritable, trouble sleeping, nightmares, feelings of shame, and self-destructive behaviours, are just some of the many symptoms of trauma. They can be frightening and may leave you feeling stuck, unable to build the kind of life you would like. Family and friends may desperately want to help, but maintaining close relationships, while experiencing trauma, is not easy.
Trauma has many causes and can result from a single event, or from an ongoing situation, where you are out of control. Most of us have experience of traumatic events, but we are all impacted differently. What is traumatic is a very personal thing, dependent on your unique set of circumstances. There is no hierarchy of trauma!
